Manning Park, Western Australia. || Just A Walk In The Park.

‘go outside and get some sunshine’

It may be a cliche but the best things in life are free (maybe just BYO picnic and a rug to dine with a view). If you’re looking for a way to spend a few hours outdoors (and just minutes away from the picturesque Coogee Beach), you should add Manning Park to your itinerary.

For those who don’t mind adding a stint of cardio to their outing, I’d recommend adding Manning Steps to your itinerary while you’re exploring the rest of the park. Why? Well, if you’re willing to climb 192 stairs, the view from the top of the Manning Steps will leave you breathless. Even on a day where the view was hindered by a smokey haze, the panoramic views of Cockburn, Manning Lake and Port Coogee were still mesmerizing.

Dogs are allowed throughout the park- if their kept on their leashes. There are a number of barbecues and undercover areas for larger groups. There are also two play grounds for kids with toilet facilities nearby.

If you’re in the park on a Sunday afternoon between the hours of 1:30pm and 4:30pm, you can step back in time and take a walk through the Azelia Homestead. (Unfortunately I spent a Sunday morning at the park so I could only admire the beautiful homestead and grounds from outside.)
